For Alice in Wonderland we have openings for both Foley Artists and Voice Actors. This page describes the voice parts. For more information about the auditions process (including links to the form to sign up for a slot), see our Auditions page.
Leads
- Carroll (M):
- Our narrator. The person telling the tale. Male, any age.
- Alice (F):
- Our lead character, the young girl whose curiosity leads her into a world of adventure. Polite, but prone to fits of fancy. Actress cast must be able to SOUND young.
Everyone else is drawn from our ensemble. Anyone cast in the roles below WILL be playing more than one role, but all will get at least one major scene. Unless noted all genders will be considered for all roles.
Ensemble Roles
- Mother (F):
- The mother of Alice Liddell. Stern, yet loving. She doesn't want Alice to grow up quite yet.
- Rabbit:
- The White Rabbit. Nervous, but authoritative when s/he needs to be.
- PAT:
- One of the White Rabbit's animal servants. May be an Irish Baboon or Guinea Pig. Or maybe not.
- Bill:
- Another of the White Rabbit animal servants. A lizard.
- Caterpillar:
- Stern, but contemplative. A Caterpillar with a Hookah.
- Pigeon:
- A manic bird obsessed with protecting eggs in a nest. Convinced that Alice is a serpent.
- Cheshire Cat:
- A cat who grins so broadly that all that's left behind is the grin. A trickster character who helps Alice, until s/he doesn't.
- Mad Hatter:
- Crazed tea master. Manic, and prone to fits of poetry.
- March Hare:
- The other member of the tea party. Unhappy that Alice has joined them. Abusive to Dormouse.
- Dormouse:
- A sleepy mouse. The other characters keep having to wake the mouse up.
- Tweedledee:
- One of the two brothers/sisters who will tell Alice some poetry, and have a battle. Bratty. Afraid of the Crow and the Red Queen.
- Tweedledum:
- The other of the two brothers/sisters who will tell Alice some poetry and have a battle. Bratty. Afraid of the Crow and the Red Queen.
- Walrus:
- A Walrus. S/he likes Oysters, and it quite greedy with them.
- Carpenter:
- A Carpenter. S/he likes Oysters, and might even like them more than the Walrus.
- Red Queen:
- A force of nature, the royal Queen. Loud. Authoritative. You do not want to mess with her if you want to keep your head on your neck.
- Humpty Dumpty:
- A belligerent egg. Teaches Alice about un-birthdays.
- Mock Turtle:
- Wise and sage. A bit of a beat poet. Teaches Alice the Lobster Quadrille.
- Gryphon:
- Partner to the Turtle, he keeps the Turtle in line.
- Sheep:
- A Sheep Shopkeeper.
- Judge:
- S/he judges the trial at the end of our play. Judicious.
- Dinah:
- A cat. Well, more a kitten.
The following are smaller roles:
- Oysters:
- They walk with the Walrus and Carpenter. They get eaten.
- Cards/Guards:
- They follow the Queen's orders.
- Red King:
- He snores. He wakes.
