Full program with bios — The Unseen Worlds of H. G. Wells (Halloween 2024)

Cast and Crew Biographies:

Linda Adams (Ghost, The Inexperienced Ghost) is pleased to be performing in her second show with PMRP. Linda has toured as both an actor and dancer around New England, the south, and midwest. She holds an MFA from Smith College and studied Shakespearean acting in London.

Susan Alyn (Mrs. Hall, The Invisible Man) is a native New Yorker; her stage acting debut happened in grade school. She continued acting for years, in high school and beyond, including in a non-equity summer stock theatre at the age of 18 (one of a number of roles she had there, at Millbrook Playhouse https://millbrookplayhouse.org/, as she also directed publicity). She’s always loved radio and studied radio drama in college; she worked a variety of jobs in college radio at WNYU.

Susan studied acting with David Mamet’s Atlantic Theater Company in New York after graduating from NYU with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film/TV. She then produced radio and television commercials for a Madison Avenue advertising agency in New York (demo reel).

Here in Greater Boston Susan performed in Lexington Players’ “A Christmas Carol” where she played the Spirit of Christmas Past. A TheaterOnline reviewer’s published comment about Susan’s performance was as follows: “I loved the compassion and gentleness of the Spirit of Christmas Past (played by Susan Alyn)…”

More recently Susan was acting with the cast in a Theatre@First production before COVID hit. She is delighted to now join the very talented members of Post Meridian Radio Players to perform in this production of “The Unseen Worlds of HG Wells”

Richard Bartlett (Rev. Bunting, The Invisible Man) started with PMRP in 2012 in The Day The Earth Stood Still. The Invisible Man will be his fifth show.

Elly Berke (Director, The Cone) is grateful to be a contributor to the creative economy in her local Somerville. After several fun seasons as a voice actor with PMRP this is her first endeavor as a director. Berke can be found on screens and stages locally, teaching English learners in Somerville Public Schools, or recording out of her at-home voice over studio. She is excited to connect with new people and promote her recently published children’s picture book — Listen, Wonder, Ask — available wherever books are sold! Instagram: @eleanorsusan. She sends lots of love to her family in Maine.

Gary Bloom (Rehearsal Assistant) is a screen and voice actor (IMDB page), a screenwriter, a songwriter, and a soon-to-be producer and director. “Unseen Worlds” is his first PMRP production.

Mollie Bourne (Policeman/Doctor, The Stolen Body; Foley, The Inexperienced Ghost/The Invisible Man) is acting in her third production she is acting in and doing Foley in her second production for this show. She is so excited to be part of another Halloween show and to both saying words and making noises (and also having the privilege of working with a rubber chicken)!

Catherine Bromberg (Mrs. Hart, The Stolen Body) is thrilled to be part of “The Stolen Body”. She has performed in more than a dozen PMRP productions, including several summer mysteries, a number of Gender-Swapped Star Trek episodes, a few Halloween extravaganzas, and some spring spectaculars, starting with The Scarlet Pimpernel. She’s also performed with Theatre@First, Theatre to Go, Wax Wings Productions, American Immersion Theater, and the Balkan music band Zdravets. Catherine is extremely grateful to her family and her friends-who-are-also-family for letting her come out to play, and for being awesome.

Jaimie Carlson (Foley, The Cone/The Stolen Body; Foley Coordinator) is creating assorted crashes, bangs, and thuds, some of them even on purpose, for the fifth time as a Foley artist for PMRP! When not wreaking havoc with a glass break kit, Jaimie can be found programming robots, playing quizbowl, or enjoying a cracking good read. She hopes you enjoy being “lifted on the point of H. G. Wells’ puissant pen” tonight!

Andrew Croteau (PC Jaffers/Colonel Adye, The Invisible Man) debuted in his first role with PMRP in the Fall of 2024 in the production of “The Invisible Man”. Despite being new to PMRP, Andrew has always had a love for all things radio, he has previously played the role of George Bailey in a Colleges of the Fenway theater radio play production of “Its a Wonderful Life” and also hosted a radio show entitled “Over Worked and Under Caffeinated” all throughout his college career at Wentworth Institute of Technology.

In his free time, Andrew loves to make music and is currently the Vocals and Bass for local band Good Day for Greg. When he’s not performing, Andrew can be found developing new superconducting technologies as a materials science engineer or just tinkering around the machine shop.

Kym Darby (Porter/Fearenside/Bystander, The Invisible Man) is excited to be working with PMRP for the first time, though she first found her passion for acting in high school. Her previous credits include “The F&L at 1330” (Moonbox Productions), “A Gun Is...” (Central Square Theater), “Fall With Me” (Moonbox Productions), and “The Rude Mechanicals Showcase” (QA&P).

Kimberly Dauber (Dr. Cuss/Sound Designer, The Invisible Man) is back to cause more trouble for PMRP. She may have the biggest character/actor age difference in the role of Dr. Cuss? She is also the only sound designer for this show whose name doesn’t rhyme with “hay,” as in for horses. You can also catch her singing musical theater pieces at the Burren, narrating audiobooks for fun and profit - check out Dogs With Attitude by Yvonne Bronstorph! - and generally enjoying herself.

Francine Davis (Director, The Inexperienced Ghost) is a Boston-based theater artist who has been involved in over 150 productions as an actor and/or director, working with such companies as the Boston Shakespeare Project Collective; Yorick Ensemble; Dream Role Players; and King Richard’s Faire. Acting credits include: Joan in “Saint Joan;” Shylock in “The Merchant of Venice;” and Beatrice in “Beata Beatrix” (EMACT Festival Best Actress nomination). Directing credits include: “Romeo and Juliet;” “The Comedy of Errors;” and “Arsenic and Old Lace.” Francine is happy to be working with PMRP for the second time. Earlier this year, PMRP gave her the opportunity to try her hand as a Foley artist, which was an enormous amount of fun, especially when she created a sound effect by assaulting a cantaloupe with the nozzle of a garden hose!

Sue Downing (Mrs. Bullock, The Stolen Body) (she/they) has voice acted in three previous PMRP Halloween productions and directed under PMRP sponsorship for the Boston Theatre Marathon. Sue has most recently been seen in the parks of Cambridge with Dream Role Players and has also worked with Chameleon’s Dish and Theatre@First in recent years.

Joev Dubach (Sound board operator ) is operating in his twenty-ninth show with the PMRP. You can join Joev for improvisational free fitness hilarity with November Project Boston any time, as long as that time is MWF 6:30am. Just show up!

Mare Freed (Script Selection Chair; Asst. House Manager) has been with PMRP since the dawn of humanity (2006 or so). Lots of acting, lots of directing, lots of everything but especially a lot of fun and friendships. Her script adaptations of “Cask of Amontillado,” “Santa Claus Conquers The Martians,” and “The Babysitter” have been produced on the PMRP stage, and she was on a team of 5 writers for the PMRP adaptation of “Metropolis.” She thanks her beloved Jay Sekora for going with her to Mars, to the fortified wine cellar, and to a dystopian alternate history/future.

Alex Gorowara (Zan, The Inexperienced Ghost) joined PMRP’s Halloween show in 2023 in his first production since college as Ben in Night of the Living Dead. Alex has since been seen in Theatre@First’s “The Impracticality of Modern Day Mastodons” and “Festival@First 12: Love is Love”. He’s excited to return to PMRP for another spooky show!

Alex LaFreniere (Clay, The Inexperienced Ghost) is grateful to be returning for his seventh onstage appearance with PMRP. Alex has previously performed with PMRP in such roles as Freder (Metropolis), Desmond Cleese (Women Behind the Curtain), and most recently as Detective Nick Charles (The Thin Man). Alex would like to thank his family, his partner Jazz, and his much beloved cat Kevin for their support.

Émile Lewis (Griffin, The Invisible Man) is a known reprobate and scoundrel, whose presence has blighted the local theatre scene for several years. Their first major role was Sir Joseph Porter, KCB, in the MIT Gilbert & Sullivan Players production of HMS Pinafore (2018). This is their third production with PMRP, having performed in the 2019 spring show and done foley this summer. They are currently writing and producing a presently-unnamed audio drama with Hear Me Out Productions and are an active member of the Not Even Comedy group.

Sam Marchiony (Porter/Messenger, The Stolen Body) This is Sam’s PMRP debut, and their return to radio plays after a stint as a cast member and writer on WOBC’s The Dead Hear Footsteps at Oberlin College. Born and raised in the Greater Boston Area, and a graduate of both Oberlin and the University of Houston, Sam came back home during the first months of the pandemic with two expensive pieces of paper saying they were good at theatre, and nowhere to use them. Since then, she has been a repertory member of the Worlds Elsewhere Theatre Company, providing socially distanced and socially conscious theatre and Actual Plays to the wider internet. She is the host of the “Six Degrees of Star Wars” podcast, where all of cinema has a potential connection to George Lucas' flagship franchise.

Avery Margenot (Ev, The Inexperienced Ghost) is thrilled to make her debut with the Post Meridian Radio Players as Ev in Inexperienced Ghost. She previously participated in longform improv as a member of the Horse Lincoln Improv Troupe at the University of Connecticut (UConn) and is excited to return to the world of performance.

Clover Melville (Mr. Vincey, The Stolen Body) is in their third show with PMRP. They were in “The King in Yellow” for the Halloween show last fall, and they substitute stage managed for the spring production. Clover has also been involved in other shows in the area, such at “The Cherry Orchard” with Theatre@First and “Twelfth Night” with Dream Role Players. Clover has also done sound design for “The King in Yellow” last fall and for “The Comedy of Errors” presented by Quannapowitt Players. Before moving to Medford, Clover was also involved in theater in college and high school.

Outside of theater, Clover enjoyed birding, photography, reading, hiking, rock climbing, and general mischief making.

David Murgo (Kemp/Mariner, The Invisible Man) has been an active member/performer with Voices of Hope for 7+ years, helping to raise over $1 million for The Termeer Center for Targeted (Cancer) Research at MGH. He performed in “Jesus Christ Superstar” with Pentucket Players, and with Colonial Radio Theater in episodes of their long-running “Powder River” series, and also in a variety of their horror, science-fiction, adventure, spy, and comedy recordings. In 2022, David played Kris Kringle in Colonial Radio Players radio/stage production of “Miracle on 34th Street,” rejoining them in 2023 for their production of “It’s a Wonderful Life” - playing Freddie Filmore (Emcee), Nick the Bartender, Joseph the Angel, Henry Potter, and others. He looks forward to future performances with PMRP. This one’s for Zaven!

Haylie Navarre (Horrocks, The Cone) is a first-time player with PMRP (and so happy to be here!) She’s a new New England transplant hailing from rural Louisiana, where she got her first taste of the stage in second grade with the coveted role of Mrs. Claus. She didn’t know how to make friends as an adult so she took an improv class (as one does) and fell in love with it (as one does). Since then, her acting pursuits have allowed her to perform in many shows, plays, festivals, and a very memorable summer at the William Esper Studio. All the love and thanks to her incredibly supportive partner, Jeff, and any coworkers that she guilted into attending.

Ted Overholt (Foley/Ghost Lifter) is spending the year without a bio for tax reasons.

Karen Sarao (Producer) has been a member of the PMRP for many years that she refuses to keep count of, for reasons. During this nebulous time she’s worn several hats, both behind the scenes and in front of the mics, but this is the first time that hat has said Producer. In January 2025 she will reprise the role of Jane T. Kirk in the PMRP’s Gender Swapped Star Trek series at Arisia. She would like you to know that, “You’ve never smelt better!” is the best thing she’s ever written, and she’s glad that you are here to hear it.

Martin Schmidheiny (He, The Cone) finally debuts with PMRP in Unseen Worlds by popular demand of his story reading fanbase in the BPS community. He made his way here after inspiring encounters with members of Fool & Scholar productions, Old Gods of Appalachia, QA&P Somervile, The Penumbra Podcast, Avatar Studios and other showcasing entities encouraged him to seek some discipline and structure for his voice acting talents (being a husband and father to extroverted theater kids didn’t hurt, either).

As a US/Swiss dual citizen he spent half his life in Europe gaining fluency in foreign languages and good taste, while his career spans vertical farming, field archaeology, material science and historic preservation. When not honing characters and seeking out worlds unknown, he is probably training with swords and armor, climbing rocks and trees, doodling, cutting stop motion movies, cooking for friends or brooding into the horizon.

Jay Sekora (Sound engineer; sound designer, The Cone, The Inexperienced Ghost) has worked with PMRP as an actor and director as well as working on sound. He directed PMRP’s adaptations of “THEM!”, “Metropolis”, and “Filibus”, and adapted and directed “Night of the Living Dead”. His favorite PMRP acting roles were a drunken astronaut in “Junkyard” and the homicidal narrator in “The Tell-Tale Heart”. And he’s done a lot of sound engineering and other sound-tech work.

He lives in Quincy with his his beloved partner Mare, who got him back into theater after a long time away, and sadly no inside pets, although he and Mare love the raccoons, possums, and turkeys who visit. (If Edward Gorey could have a family of raccoons living in his house, Jay and Mare see no reason why they should be deprived!)

Jason Smith (Mr. Bessel, The Stolen Body) is on a stage of any kind for the very first time. A long time immersive theater experience enthusiast, Jason has held to longstanding traditions of working food service for many years before finally diving into theater with the Post-Meridian Radio Players. He hopes this will be the first of many!

Racer Soares (Foley) was in PMRP two years ago but do to COVID he only did one show wiith them.

Jacob Sommer (House Manager [Somerville]) — mild-mannered civil servant by day, international man of tomfoolery by night — is pleased to be working as House Manager again with PMRP, and knows you will enjoy the show! His first time house managing was for the 2023 PMRP show Metropolis, and since then has house managed for the PMRP production of Sherlock Holmes “The Final Problem” and the Theatre@First show “The Impracticality of Modern-Day Mastodons”. He’s also acted in some shows here and there (ask him about Byfar Coffee Syrup!) but right now his focus is on successfully completing grad school.

When not helping with shows, Jacob spends his spare time gaming, writing, keeping up with some news, cooking time-tested favorite foods, bashing together new recipes to wow and amaze, and attempting to solve complex political problems with plenty of verve, occasional vigor, and a near-total lack of social networking. He strongly dislikes bugging other people, with an occasional exception for asking his kids to do some chores.

Julia Stoddard (Raut, The Cone) is excited to perform at PMRP for the first time in her radio play debut! She was recently seen onstage as Rosie in the Vokes Players’ production of Cabaret, Marta / Ensemble in A Common Thread Theatre Company’s Kiss of the Spiderwoman, and as Featured Dancer / Fastrada (u/s) in AFD’s Pippin. She is thrilled to be featuring theater in her life again after many years of gymnastics training or mechanical engineering school taking center stage. All the thanks and hugs to her wonderful partner and family for all of their support and encouragement! Thank you as well to her cat Gigi for her begrudging acceptance of late dinner time during tech week.

Katie Stratton (Foley, The Cone) first saw a PMRP production at Arisia Science Fiction Convention in 2014. This is her first time onstage with PMRP, but she has performed with Theatre@First in their previous production of “Festival@First 12: Love is Love” as Taylor in “The Santa Thing.” This is Katie’s first time ever doing live foley.

Jack Wickwire (Makeup Designer) has acted, directed, and designed for many of the MetroWest community theaters. He has enjoyed working in the theater since he first moved to Boston. His makeup design credits include: The Addams Family, The Man of La Mancha, Prelude to a Kiss, Waiting In The Wings, Agatha Christie Made Me Do It, Nuncrackers, The Real Inspector Hound (for The Belmont Dramatic Club), The Comedy of Errors (Theater Company of Saugus) and Is He Dead, Servant of Two Masters, Sunday in the Park With George, The 25TH Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, SHAW3, A Man of No Importance, Blithe Spirit, Richard III, Urinetown, The Crucible (for Vokes). He also enjoys ushering at Vokes Theater, The Concord Players, Theater III, Central Square Theater, The Umbrella, and The Mosesian Center for the Arts.

Jaclyn Wilson (Stage Manager) has done a variety of roles within PMRP over the last decade, largely stage managing in a variety of spooky and Spring season shows, but also Foley and publicity directing with the group. Other credits outside of PMRP include “Finance Bro” and “Narrator” in a 24-hour show this past January (where the show is written and rehearsed in a 24 hour total period), as well as acting, stage managing, directing, assistant directing, producing, and so on in over 30 productions at MIT.
