The Mysterious Traveler
Adapted and Directed by Christopher Chiampa
No accents required, other than a fake elderly voice by Lupin.
- The Gentleman (m, 20s-40s):
- A famous French gentleman-thief. A classic rogue and master of disguise who answers to no one but his own whims. Actor must be able to switch between an "old" and "young" voice.
- The Lady (f. mid-30s-50s preferred):
- An adventuress; brilliant and cool-headed, she knows more about everyone around her than she lets on.
- The Thief (m, any age):
- A looming henchman who has been sent on a secret errand; his target and purpose unknown to all but himself. Total opposite of the others; crass, quick to anger, and a bit dull-witted.
The Scarlet Pimpernel

Note about Accents: English accents will be used for English roles; French accents will be preferred for French roles (coaching will be available).
Major Roles
- Marguerite St. Just (younger female):
- French former actress and revolutionary, now a charming trendsetter in the English court. Unsatisfied with her marriage to a fool, haunted by a past mistake.
- Sir Percy Blakeney, the Scarlet Pimpernel (late 20s/30s, male):
- English baronet who plays the foolish fop at court. Rescuer of French aristocrats, master of disguise. Requires multiple voices.
- Citizen Chauvelin (30s+, any gender):
- Cold and keen-eyed agent of France who hunts the Scarlet Pimpernel.
- Suzanne de Tournay (20s, female):
- Aristocratic French refugee and old friend of Marguerite’s. Faithful, though with a small rebellious streak.
- Sir Andrew Ffoulkes (younger male):
- English noble in the League of the Scarlet Pimpernel and Percy’s right-hand man. An earnest gentleman.
Ensemble Roles
- Comtesse de Tournay (older female):
- A poised French aristocrat in exile. Protective of her daughter Suzanne.
- Brogard (older, any gender):
- Surly French innkeeper who grumbles about pretty much everyone.
- Desgas (any age, any gender):
- Chauvelin’s lackey. Obedient but afraid of Chauvelin’s displeasure.
- Armand St. Just (younger male):
- Marguerite’s brother. A member of the League of the Scarlet Pimpernel and Percy’s main ally in France.
- Lord Grenville (older male):
- British Foreign Secretary of State. A reluctant host to Chauvelin.
- Lady Portarles (any age, female):
- English aristocrat, kind-hearted but honest.
- Prince of Wales (30s, male):
- The future King George IV. Jovial, friend of the Blakeneys.
- Comte de Tournay (older male):
- French noble hoping to escape the guillotine.
