The Post-Meridian Radio Players - Christmas

Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (2021)

Jay — Sun, 03 Oct 2021 21:55:08 +0000

Back for a fifth year! And LIVE IN PERSON this time!

Performances: Friday, December 3, at 8:00pm, Saturday, December 4, matinée at 2:00pm, and Saturday, December 4, evening show at 8:00pm at Unity Somerville

A beloved annual tradition! Again this December, The Post-Meridian Radio Players will be presenting our original adaptation of that 1964 Christmas classic film, Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, in which Martians, concerned that their children are bored and listless and don’t want to do anything but watch Earth television programs, kidnap Santa Claus (and a couple of unlucky Earth children) from Earth and bring him to Mars to make toys so their children can be kids again. Can Santa get back to Earth in time for Christmas? Are the children of Mars doomed to a joyless life of food pills and machine-implanted learning? Is that terrifying, huge polar bear going to eat our young heroes? Will Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo show up to heckle? (Hint: No.) Find out for yourself at PMRP’s Santa Claus Conquers the Martians!

Last year’s livestreamed YouTube performance was loads of fun, but we’re excited to be able to bring Santa to Mars this year live and in person!

2020 can’t take this beloved annual tradition from us! Again this December, The Post-Meridian Radio Players presented our original adaptation of that 1964 Christmas classic film, Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, in which Martians, concerned that their children are bored and listless and don’t want to do anything but watch Earth television programs, kidnap Santa Claus (and a couple of unlucky Earth children) from Earth and bring him to Mars to make toys so their children can be kids again. Can Santa get back to Earth in time for Christmas? Are the children of Mars doomed to a joyless life of food pills and machine-implanted learning? Is that terrifying, huge polar bear going to eat our young heroes? Will Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo show up to heckle? (Hint: No.) Find out for yourself when PMRP performs Santa Claus Conquers the Martians!

This year, of course, Santa and the Martians had to make some adjustments, and our two live performances streamed on YouTube! You can scroll down to watch either one here on this page.

Watch our performances

Our performances were streamed live on YouTube and you can watch them there or below. (The performances were from the same script, but due to the magic of live theater, slightly different jokes may have crept into the two performances, and we had some minor music problems at the end of the Friday show and some technical problems before the start of the Saturday show. If you’re normal, watch one or the other and be satisfied. If you’re an obsessive PMRP superfan, watch both and compare the performances!)

Our Friday, December 4, 7pm performance

(Or you can watch it on YouTube.)

Our Saturday, December 5 2pm matinée

(Or you can watch it on YouTube.)
