Audition signups are open for The Post-Meridian Radio Players’ 2026 Halloween show, Tomes of Terror: Sounds of Fear!

This year, we'll be haunting the stage with three spooky shows:

Beyond the Wall of Sleep - From the mind of H.P. Lovecraft, a scientist attempts to use a dream machine to help a patient, only to break through the wall of sleep and into a realm of monsters. Directed by Kitty Drexel.

Phantom Frequency - In this original tale, a man with a dubious past finds himself haunted by his victims through a source he cannot escape: his car radio. Directed by Kristina Spinney.

The Monkey’s Paw - This classic spine-chiller tells the story of a family coming into possession of a Monkey's Paw, which grants wishes...but be careful what you wish for. Directed by Alex LaFreniere.

Auditions will be Monday, August 24, and Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at 204 Elm in Somerville. Parts will be available for both voice and Foley roles! Crew positions are also available.

Performances will be October 23-24 and 29-31, most likely all in Davis Square.

IMPORTANT: Since performers will be in close proximity on stage and at rehearsals, we are requiring performers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

PLEASE NOTE: The Post-Meridian Radio Players is a community theater group and is run by volunteers. Our performers are not paid.

How to Audition

Now

  1. Consult the description of the show on the show page. Look at the audition sides and character descriptions in our Audition Documents folder on Google Drive. "Phantom Frequency" coming soon.
  2. Sign up for an audition appointment, fill out the form, and submit it.
    • This form is both to sign up for an audition slot and to tell us about your skills and interests and let us know what plays or roles you’re particularly interested in.
    • We will accommodate walk-in auditions as we are able, and there will be a way for you to fill out the audition form on-site. However, audition reservations will get priority.
  3. If you have submitted the form correctly and one of the time slots you requested is available, you will get an email confirming your audition appointment.

If you do not receive an audition confirmation within 48 hours of submitting it or you have any other questions or concerns, email us at auditions@pmrp.org.

Before your audition

  1. Print out (or download to your device) the audition sides from our Google Drive Audition Docs folder. You’ll want to look over and/or rehearse them before your audition, and it will be very helpful if you can bring your copy to the audition (although we’ll have a few extra copies printed out).
  2. Show up for your audition at the scheduled time! Good luck and have fun!

Some Things to Know

  • Rehearsals are generally on non-holiday Mondays. For the first few weeks, Foley and voice actors will rehearse at the same time, but in separate locations in the church. After the first three weeks or so, voice and Foley will rejoin and rehearse together.
  • If you show up for an audition without having filled out your form, we’ll probably have a paper copy you can fill out, or a QR code for the form so you can fill it out on your phone. However, it saves time and trouble and makes the process go more smoothly if you submit the form before your audition.
  • Similarly, if you don't have sides printed out (or on a tablet) we'll have some copies you can borrow, but it's best if you can print them out or have them on a device you can comfortably read from.
  • Walk-ins are welcome, but people with appointments will take priority. If there are no-shows during a given hour, we will fill those slots with walk-ins. We cannot guarantee auditions for walk-ins.
  • During auditions, the directors will have each auditionee read at least two times in all. We strongly request that you specify at least one preferred role. This helps the directors know what reading will best showcase your talents.

Location

Auditions and rehearsals will be at our usual church, 204 Elm St. Somerville/52 Russell St. Cambridge, formerly the Guild Church, formerly Boston Brunch Church. See here for a map and further information.

Performances will be in Davis Square. Exact locations will be announced shortly.
